Domain Registration and Web Site Hosting — Fiction and Truth

Filed under: Misc, Techies World — admin @ 1:05 am

Choosing the best domain name and getting the best web registration are the first things to consider when launching a Web site. Mind you, this isn’t a painless process. At the end of the day the easiest way to see to it that all your needs are met is to spend a few hours on some thorough research of domain hosting providers by reading available reviews.

When you go through the domain hosting reviews, how to establish what it is you are really searching for? Don’t make any decisions before you discover the features that are crucial to your purpose. Choosing the same company for Web site hosting and registration of your domain is a popular alternative. Support is an issue that can have far-reaching effects even long after your domain is registered. Any customer review featured on the hosting company’s Web site simply isn’t sufficient to go on. It’s always necessary to obtain an objective assessment before you make a decision. Take time to assess different domain hosting customer reviews bearing in mind what each reviewer has to offer. Just what seem to be the most common problems, if there are any? Which reviews illustrate any advantages of the company? Do positive reviews outbalance the bad?

Of course, you’ll stumble upon both positive and negative reviews. Keep an open mind and study any info you can. Without a doubt, the cost should be determining factor, but it is crucial to get value for your money. To help you make a choice we have put together some bullets you should cover.

During which hours does the provider you are reading about provide customer support? Do they provide a toll-free number, can you find any evidence that they answer speedily to any complaints or queries? What kind of system uptime will they guarantee? Are there any limitations imposed on bandwidth? You can negotiate a deal featuring unlimited hosting and bandwidth, and occasionally you might be entitled to other rewards like computer software and even vouchers for Google AdWords. How is the payment scheme designed? Could it be put in place automatically, and are discounts offered for paying in full? In the event of a server going off-line, what happens? In the long run it’s entirely your choice, however, before you settle for any company, be sure you have researched all the options. Checking out any number of domain hosting reviews is in most cases an excellent policy that will save a lot of time and money.

Equipment Tips for an Opthalmologists’ Practice

Filed under: Techies World — admin @ 6:19 pm

Opthalmologists require far more than professional knowledge, more important even than all their veteran experience: because beyond this what they actually require preeminently is most likely to be specialized equipment to help them produce results as quickly as they can. This short overview considers three needed instruments: focusing on measurement, patient comfort, and storage and accessibility, and what to watch for when purchasing each: whether they’re new, used, refurbished or remanufactured. Non-contact, dynamic contour, applanation, handheld disposable, and pocket models are a few of the different styles of tonometer on the market and required for the measurement of intraocular pressure. You may favor any one style or utilize a combination of models to meet your needs. The tonometers you select to work with should be high quality. Diagnosis becomes so much smoother if you can boast both ease of use and precision with this class of opthalmology instruments. You need a chair that’s capable of more than just keeping your patients where you want them – your chair needs to be able to keep them comfortable for as long as the visit will take. Any decision you make on examination chairs has to consider both comfort and positioning; the best chairs can help the largest and smallest patients reach the appropriate position.

Your ophthalmic instruments and appliances ought to support your practice, rather than become a frustration. This makes a good treatment cabinet a blue-chip part of your practice. Drawers for hard-to-store tools, leveling glides for unsteady floors, secure locks, and flexible shelving are signatures of the treatment cabinets which offer the most efficient and convenient storage available. Some cabinets may simply be too big for this, so do bear that in mind.

Your ability to do your job will be determined partly by the instruments you employ, like your selection of tonometer, treatment cabinet, and examination chair. Before you start ordering, you should make sure you know your precise requirements. It’s no secret that picking up imprecise and or uncomfortable gear will only evoke all sorts of regrets down the road, whereas the easier to use and the more effective your tools, the more efficient you’ll do in your practice. The improvements this is sure to achieve is positively stunning. Alright, as you’ll surely be able to see, the instruments you purchase can have a respectable impact on how you perform in your professional tasks as a whole, and, of course, the progress of the practice.

No – Nonsense Approach with Broadband Customers in Sweden

Filed under: Consumer Planet, Techies World, Telecommunication Infos — admin @ 7:24 am

Advertised mobile broadband speeds and the actual speeds never seem to match. This disappoints broadband users who feel frustrated and lose faith in the provider. While advertising big numbers for speeds may be a good way to attract customers, it is considered unethical in orderf discoverinng ctual speed of their broadband connections.by many.

The most commonly used words to lure people into buying broadband connections are ‘up to’, with a large speed figure following them. The connection may theoretically be able to deliver that speed, however in reality, the users almost never experience such high speeds. Click here for info on the best mobile broadband.

To get rid of these false advertisements, operators in Sweden have decided to adopt a more ethical and truthful way of promoting their connection speeds. Four of Sweden’s main mobile network providers – 3, Tele2, TeliaSonera, and Telenor, have settled on a standard set of guidelines on advertising broadband speeds. As a result, customers will be able to see realistic speeds being advertised i.e. speeds that they will actually experience, rather than speeds that are just theoretically high.

The new regulations will come into force by September this year. They will help in maintaining a standard level of speeds offered by various broadband technologies. Therefore, when a speed of 3.6 Mbps is being advertised, the customer will know that he/she is being guaranteed at least 3 Mbps. Similarly, it will be 6 Mbps for advertised 7.2 Mbps and 10 Mbps for advertised 14.4 Mbps.

This initiative will be extremely beneficial in terms of honest marketing of broadband connections. The idea is to gain the customers’ trust and thereby increase the number of customers rather than trying to lure them through hollow promises. Hopefully, broadband providers in the UK will learn something from their Swedish counterparts.

Cisco CCNP Certification / BSCI Exam Tutorial: Floating Static Routes

Filed under: Techies World — admin @ 1:51 am

Passing the BSCI exam and earning your CCNP certification demands that you add greatly to the networking skills foundation you created when you studied for your CCNA certification. You learned quite a bit about static routing and default static routing when you passed the CCNA test, and it does seem like that should be all you need to know about static routing, right?

One thing you’ll learn as you continue to earn Cisco certifications is that there’s always something else to learn! You may have heard the term “floating static route”, which does suggest some interesting mental pictures. “Floating”? Floating on what?

In a way, a floating static route is “floating” in your routing table. A floating static route is a route that will be used only if routes for the same destination but with a lower administrative distance are removed from the table. For example, you could be using an OSPF-discovered route as your primary route to a given destination, and the floating static route would serve as a backup route that would be used only if the OSPF route leaves the routing table.

Now, how can that happen? After all, OSPF has an administrative distance of 110 and static routes have ADs of one or zero, depending on whether it’s configured with a next-hop IP address or a local exit interface. One way or the other, 1 and 0 are still less than 110!

When you want to configure a floating static route, you must assign the route an AD higher than that of the primary route. In this case, we’ve got to create a static route with an AD higher than 110. We do this by using the “distance” option at the end of the “ip route” command.

R1(config)#ip route 110.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.12.123.1 ?

<1-255> Distance metric for this route

name Specify name of the next hop

permanent permanent route

tag Set tag for this route

R1(config)#ip route 110.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.12.123.1 111

The number entered at the very end of the “ip route” command is the AD of that route. If there is an OSPF route for 110.1.1.0 /24, that will be the primary route, and the floating static route will not be used unless the OSPF route is taken out of the routing table.

Floating static routes aren’t just a good thing to know for the BSCI exam and your CCNP certification pursuit – they’re very practical in the real world as well.

MSINFO32

Filed under: Techies World — admin @ 12:20 am

Want to know more about your computer? Many software download websites offer all kinds of tools, many of them are freeware or shareware that will help you learn more about how your computer functions or that help you change your settings.

However, most of these tools are already built into windows and you don’t need to download extra software to do these things. In this article I will be discussing one of those tools called MSINFO32.

Go to “start” on your taskbar, then to “run”. Type in or copy MSINFO32 into the run box. Click okay. A tool will popup. I’ll go over it with you as you read this article.

Click the plus sign next to “Hardware Resources” Now select Conflicts/Sharing. This shows you the IRQ addresses your computer’s hardware is using. If there are any conflicts, it will tell you here.

Next is “DMA” which according to http://www.x-emi.com/tech_terms.html, DMA is defined as “Direct Memory Access. A technique for transferring data from main memory to a device without passing it through the CPU. Computers that have DMA channels can transfer data to and from devices much more quickly than computers without a DMA channel. This is useful for making quick backups and for real-time applications. Some expansion boards, such as CD-ROM cards, are capable of accessing the computer’s DMA channel.” That explains it better than I could have done.

The next option is “forced hardware”. This is hardware that is not plug in play compatible and where the user manually configures the settings rather than the system doing so automatically. legacy Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) devices are an example of forced hardware. You likely do not have any forced hardware on your system unless you are an advanced user.

Next is I/O which are Input/output settings.” These settings refer to sending data to and from devices. Again unless you are a very advanced user, there isn’t much for you to do here.

Now click IRQ. This stands for Interrupt Request and is an electronic request from a hardware device to your CPU. There should be only one device hooked up to each IRQ line; doubling up devices on IRQ lines can lock up your system. Most of your hardware comes with preset settings that do not conflict with other devices.

If you do end up with an IRQ conflict, you can choose the device in “device manager” and change the settings assigning a new IRQ address that is not being used to the problem hardware. Most of the time you should allow a technician to do that for you.

The next choice is “memory”. This is the memory blocks that your hardware uses and again your hardware is usually set up so that it automatically configures this for you.

Click the plus sign by “components” now. Each computer has different hardware, but information about each piece of computer hardware you have is located here. Also, there is a “problem devices” choice as well. Hopefully when you click here it says, “There are no devices with problems on this machine.”

The history option is good for computer techs because it gives them an idea of what has been installed and when along with other important information that can help them fix your computer.

If you click the plus sign next to software environment, you will see several choices. You will find information about the drivers that are installed, software updates, and more depending on what software you have installed.

In this general area you can select Basic Information, Advanced Information, or History for each of the items we have discussed here. It’s a good thing to know how to access your computer’s information if you are getting tech support by phone or in a tech support forum.

Now at the top, go to tools. You will see a “repair Internet Explorer” tab. Don’t go there unless you are having problems with Internet Explorer, but if you are, this will help you make repairs to it. This is also where you can go to add components to Internet Explorer.

Now the DirectX Diagnostic tool. This is a step by step easy to understand wizard that will help you make sure DirectX is working properly on your system or needs to be updated. Run through all the tests for sound and video.

The windows report tool is where you can contact Microsoft support about problems. I don’t know if this actually works anymore or if Microsoft is even listening. Try it out and see.

Most of the other tools I ignore except for the system file checker. This is a handy tool you should run to check if any system files have been changed or damaged since being installed. It’s good to run this about once per month. If it finds damaged or changed system files it will prompt you to ask you what you want to do. Just follow the instructions. You will probably need your operating system CD if you want to replace a system file that has been corrupted.

I hope this article has helped you learn a little more about the computer you use and has helped you to learn that many tools that you need are already built into your computer if you know how to find them.

Sony Walkman Walks Out of Japan!

Filed under: Techies World — admin @ 12:18 am

After 25 years, Sony will close the last Walkman factory in Japan. According to Sony spokesman, Atsuo Omagari, the factory has been around since 1979, and was one of the first factories since the Sony Walkman debuted.

As production of the Walkman is moved to China, Malaysia, and other Asian Countries, 200 Japanese jobs will be lost, causing a small but meaningfull blow to the Japanese economy.

This not being the only factory closed, other factories around Japan have also suffered the same fate. But why???

It’s all about Sony’s restructuring plan, that was announced last September, to rebost it’s ailing electronics operations worldwide. The plan will run 3 years, and will reduce the number of global manufactoring facilities worldwide.

With competition from Apple’s iPod, and Mp3 devices coming out from China and Korea, Sony might as well give it’s last bow in this market.

Computer Data Backup – Data Backup Solution Will Give You A Peace Of Mind

Filed under: Techies World — admin @ 1:42 am

Imagine that you have been working on a file for the entire day and there was a power surge that caused your computer to ‘black out’. It would have been a frustrating experience for us as we had put in a lot of time and effort into it. I am sure that many of us would have experienced data loss in some form or another and have learnt to be wiser to backup our data to avoid any form of data loss.

Have you ever thought of a worst case scenario where a fire broke up and destroy your computer or where your laptop got stolen? Should that happen, the first thing that comes into your mind is the thousands of dollars that you spend on your computer or laptop and you would feel very upset about it. However, when you thought for a second moment, you started to realize that what is really valuable are the amount of data that you have built up over the years in it. Though hardware can always be replaced, even at no cost to you if you have insurance, but lost data is gone forever.

Lost data such as the thousands of mp3 and movies that you have downloaded from the Internet, thousands of digital photographs that are impossible to replace are lost in an instant. This form of data loss hits home especially hard when the laptop holds the lifeblood to your business. Imagine all your business contacts documents and contracts that you have painfully built up over the years would be vanished just like that. Your business would be wipe out overnight.

Do not wait for the worst to happen before you start to consider about data backup solution. Having a data backup solution will give you a peace of mind as you know that your data is in safe hand.

Spyware Remover

Filed under: Techies World — admin @ 2:50 pm

Your first step in removing dangerous infections from your computer should be downloading a free program called Hijack This. Make sure you download the file and extract it to a directory on your hard drive, you can call it HijackThis. This is very important, because if you don’t put hijack this in it’s own folder you will not be able to back up files in case of an accident. Then navigate to that directory and double-click on the hijackthis.exe file. When the program is started click on the Scan button and then the Save Log button to create a log of your information.

You can copy and paste your log at Geeks To Go, Geeks To Go is a free service that will check your log and help you remove any infections.

I am not affiliated with Geeks To Go, but I have used their free service and I was very pleased with the results.
The process of removing infections from your computer could
take a day are even a week depending on how busy Geeks to
Go is. It also depends on how well you can follow directions.
Although Geeks To Go will give you step by step directions,
you will need to have some basic knowledge of working with a
computer. After your computer is clean you will be given
some tips to help keep your computer clean, I recommend you
use the tips, because with so many infections you need to
do what you can to make sure your computer stays clean.

2MB Customers to be Upgraded to 10MB, says Virgin Media

Filed under: Consumer Planet, Techies World, Telecommunication Infos — admin @ 1:02 am

Virgin Media, the UK telecom provider, had recently announced that it plans to focus on improvement of broadband services it provides. As an initial step, it will upgrade the broadband packages of millions of its existing customers from 2MB to 10MB, and this program is expected to start in May this year.

The company proudly claims that the program will be the biggest ever broadband package upgrade to occur in the UK, and consequently, the company’s new fibre optic product portfolio will offer the 10-20-50 MB range. Thus, customers will now be able to access catch-up TV and online games, along with many other great new applications that run on these faster services.

The UK provider has also said that it was glad to be working towards increasing high speed broadband adoption levels in the country and fully supports the government’s Digital Britain initiative.

Neil Berkett, Chief Executive of Virgin Media is confident that with the new ‘up to 10, 20 and 50 MB’ packages, the company has certainly become the best broadband provider in the UK. He also said that the program was a result of the company’s dedication to its customers and that such improvement programmes and services eventually lead to customer satisfaction and loyalty.

There is no doubt that Virgin Media has gone an extra step to provide better services to its customers and the ball is now in the court of other providers, who must react to avoid losing a large chunk of their market share.
