The planning committee of the Brighton and Hove City Council voted unanimously to approve the plan for a new building consisting of office space that measures about 35,000sq m, near the back of the Amex House site in Brighton, which is already owned by American Express.

The new development is expected to create over a thousand new construction jobs and is seen as a sign of the commitment to Brighton and Hove that was made by large multi-national American Express. Business leaders cautioned however, that while the new development was a step forward, there still will need to more business development within the Brighton and Hove city limits in order to reach the job target of the city for 2016.
